LONDON HANDEL ORCHESTRA
The London Handel Orchestra, directed from the violin by Adrian Butterfield, returns to the Wigmore Hall to celebrate 35 years of dedication to the performance of the music of Handel and his contemporaries. This programme of music from across Europe includes Corelli’s joyous concerto grosso No 9, some of Purcell’s exquisite miniatures, the grandeur of one of Quantz’s vast trove of flute concertos performed by one of his most ardent and virtuosic supporters, Rachel Brown and a concerto by the man who finally established
the violin as a solo instrument in France, Jean-Marie Leclair. The programme is rounded off with Handel’s most exhilarating concerto grosso, No 11 in A major.
