Come and Play!
Calling all instrumentalists!
This year LHF is presenting the festival’s first ever Come and Play, a full-day workshop led by Steven Devine and Kinga Ujszászi (Cabinet of Wonders) for those interested in period instruments and historically informed performance techniques. Taking place at the Royal Academy of Music’s Dukes Hall, participants in this event will experience a deep immersion in two distinct English historical performance styles of the baroque and reformation periods, and will receive stylistic and technical guidance from world-leading professional tutors in the context of a large ensemble performance.
Instrument Specification: The workshop will be taken at A=415. Instruments must be tuned and settled at 415 before the day.
FAO String Players: A baroque instrument is not essential, but a baroque bow is very desirable to achieve the best outcomes from the experience.
Advice for Participants: Players with a secure technical foundation on their chosen instrument will benefit most from this experience. Players should refer to Concerto Grosso Op.6 no.4 as an indicator of playing standard for the day. It is advised that participants should either be confident sight-readers, or commit to preparing the parts beforehand. Scores and parts will be released before 3rd April 2025
Timings: 11am – 5pm
