Messiah Reimagined: “Sing At Home” Chorus (Easter 2021)
Video submission deadline is midnight 1st February 2021
Live-streamed performance Monday 5 April, 7pm
St George’s, Hanover Square, London (Handel’s own church)
Following the success of our first “Sing At Home” Chorus, which attracted 147 singers from 16 countries, we are inviting singers to join an even bigger version to be part of a live performance of Messiah from Handel’s church on the afternoon of Easter Monday (5 April 2021). You can see the wonderful December performance here.
Each choir member will have access to a backing track specially recorded by the London Handel Orchestra and is invited to prepare three choruses ‘And the glory’, ‘Worthy is the Lamb’ and the magnificent ‘Hallelujah!’. You can rehearse at home, and prepare the choruses in your own time. There are three downloadable rehearsal sessions with Laurence Cummings, our expert Musical Director and one of the world’s leading conductors of baroque repertoire. Chorus members will work towards submitting a recording of themselves for inclusion in a professionally produced video and integrated into the live performance on 5 April. We will send clear and easy instructions for how to record your video, and you will also be invited to special live panel discussions on Zoom with leading Handel and choral experts.
The “Sing At Home” Chorus is open to anyone, although we do ask participants to be able to sight read and have some choral experience. For further details, please click here.
Please also be aware that videos will need to be submitted no later than midnight on 1 February 2020 and we cannot guarantee to include any received after this date. The date for this event is showing as 1 February as that is the deadline for submissions, and we have to put this date to stop our online booking system taking any bookings after this deadline, but please note that the final performance is on 5 April.
