Lunchtime at the Charterhouse: Ensemble Augelletti
Overview
Ensemble Augelletti returns to the London Handel Festival with a programme that explores the music of Courtney’s world, including works by Boyce, Sammartini, and Courtney’s ultimate favourite - Handel.
The title of the recital, "And we were enchanted" is taken from a page of John Courtney’s well-thumbed diary, written in rapture after attending a concert. Courtney was a gentleman with a deep love of music, and he recounted his musical experiences in a journal as he visited London’s plays, concerts, theatres, and balls.
