Our most extensive and ambitious Autumn Series yet in partnership with Handel Hendrix House
The 2026 Autumn Season offers audiences the opportunity to hear some of the most exciting period performers working in the UK today. From a mischievous semi-staged dinner party in 1733 London to a candlelit Christmas celebration in Handel’s own home, the season brings Handel and his world vividly to life in the very venues he knew, loved, and worked.
London Handel Festival returns this autumn with a rich programme of performances and events that invite audiences to experience Handel's music, life and legacy in fresh and engaging ways.
The season opens with Dinner with Handel, a lively semi-staged production by Cambridge Handel Opera that imagines an unforgettable evening at Handel's Brook Street home, where music, comedy and historical characters collide around a disastrous dinner party.
Audiences are then invited into Handel's own home at Handel Hendrix House for Handel in Letters, an intimate event combining live performance with readings from the correspondence of Handel's contemporaries, revealing the wit, gossip, rivalries and admiration that surrounded one of Britain's most celebrated composers.
In November, acclaimed period ensemble Spiritato makes its London Handel Festival debut with Handel and the New Society, celebrating the remarkable network of musicians who founded the Fund for Decay'd Musicians in 1738 through a vibrant programme of orchestral works by Handel and his closest contemporaries.
The Festival's annual performance of Messiah returns to St George's Hanover Square, offering audiences the opportunity to hear Handel's timeless masterpiece in the church where the composer himself worshipped, performed by the London Handel Orchestra, the Choir of St George's Church and an outstanding cast of soloists under the direction of Richard Gowers.
The season concludes with Christmas Party, Chez Handel, when Handel Hendrix House is transformed by candlelight and festive decorations for an atmospheric evening of seasonal music, carols and festive hospitality, bringing the year to a joyful close in the composer's own home.
