Aci, by the River
The Handel Opera Studio is delighted to present a revival of Aci, by the River, an original and critically acclaimed Handel experience centred around a groundbreaking production of the early dramatic work Aci, Galatea e Polifemo.
Aci, by the River takes place on the banks of the Thames, in the visually stunning Trinity Buoy Wharf Lighthouse and Chainstore.
LHF favourites La Nuova Musica and their charismatic Musical Director David Bates take the musical lead for this revival and will join a brand-new cast of some of the hottest singing stars in the world today. Together they will breathe new life into this breathtaking production.
Aci, Galatea e Polifemo is one of Handel's most emotive and daring works: an ancient Greek tale portraying the intensity of young love and how it collides with a world that seeks to control and destroy it, leading to tragic and heartbreaking consequences.
For some of the performances, audiences are given the opportunity to be transported from Central London by boat along the Thames, with the journey itself featuring intimate live performances. Details of this will be released in early 2027.
The closest tube station is Canning Town (Jubilee Line), from where you will be guided to the venue via a small trail of pop-up performances.
